Prof. Dr. Eberhard Straube

Prof. Dr. Eberhard Straube is Director of the Institute of Medical Microbiology of the FSU, Jena. In this position, he is responsible for providing clinical and microbiological assistance to the Clinical Centre of the FSU, Jena, with about 1300 hospital beds, and to a number of other facilities in the region. Furthermore, Prof. Straube is the Head of the Chlamydiae expert laboratory named "Konsiliarlabor," belonging to the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin, and he is also directing reference laboratories for quality assurance in bacteriological and serological studies.

For years, he has been a committed member of and since 2004, he is Assistant Chairman of the board of directors of the Paul-Ehrlich-Society for Chemotherapy. Prof. Straube is a member of the German Society for Hygiene and Microbiology and also was its President from 1997-1998. He is the Dean of FSU Jena's School of Medicine. Currently, he is the Treasurer of the German Sepsis Society.
