LOOXSTER LICENSING
How is the VYOO assay able to combine such high sensitivity and specificity in detecting pathogens in blood and other complex specimens?
The answer lies in LOOXSTER, the enabling technology behind the pathogen PCR assay VYOO.
LOOXSTER separates pathogen and human DNA, thus improving the performance of the sample preparation, and so the entire PCR process.
SIRS-Lab welcomes licensing enquiries from diagnostics and technology companies, as well as for partnering on automation.
What does LOOXSTER do?
LOOXSTER enables relative enrichment of bacterial and fungal DNA in whole blood and other complex samples, such as ascitic or synovial fluid.
This increases the amount of pathogen DNA entering the PCR reaction, thus improving the signal-to-noise ratio, and significantly raising overall test sensitivity (at least 10-fold). (1)
How does LOOXSTER work?
Using LOOXSTER plus*, a superior cell lysis and DNA extraction protocol leads to the high recovery of pathogen DNA (e.g. Streptococcus 2x, Candida 3x, Aspergillus 8x more than a leading competitor).
Then the proprietary LOOXSTER protein, coupled to a matrix, preferentially binds bacterial and fungal DNA, using methylation differences between pathogen and human DNA. (1)
*LOOXSTER plus additionally includes the cell lysis and total DNA extraction steps.
