The company applies the latest molecular diagnostic techniques while leveraging the expert knowledge of its staff and advisors in areas such as critical care medicine, microbiology, assay design, and gene expression.

History

SIRS-Lab was founded in 2000, emerging from the University Hospital in Jena. Business operations began in 2001 and by the end of 2003 SIRS-Lab had made its 50th patent application. The year 2005 saw the launch of the first commercially available product (LOOXSTER), a sample preparation system.
LOOXSTER is now a key component of VYOO, the company's diagnostic test for rapid pathogen detection, launched in 2007. In 2008 the development efforts resulted in the scientific introduction of SIQNATURE, now under assessment for commercial introduction. Also in 2008, SIRS-Lab received CE approval for VYOO and IVD (in vitro diagnostics) Quality Management certification EN ISO 13485. SIRS-Lab has currently about 50 employees.
